Title: Principal Electrical Engineer  

Shift: 1st


The Principal Electrical Engineer is a very important and highly responsible position within the company and, as such, demands a high degree of dedication, independence, leadership, flexibility, and sound judgment.  This will be a hands-on role that will provide leadership within clients Product Development team and provide support to the commercialization and field deployment teams.  A successful member on this team will be a self-starter with a proven track record of utilizing solid fundamental engineering practices and have a strong understanding of grid-tied energy devices and the compliance and regulatory environment of such devices. 

The ability to design the power systems for a grid-connected Battery Energy Storage System is required.  The focus of the position will be to lead the design, validation, and implementation of all power system of the battery storage system.  This includes but is not limited to the inverters, transformers, reclosures and all safety systems necessary to meet the compliance requirements of the project. 

Key Work Functions: 

  • Design of high power, high voltage AC/DC systems; 

  • Experience with grid-scale equipment such as Inverters, Transformers, Switch Gear, etc. 

  • Energy storage and/or batteries system architecture design; 

  • Ability to develop and oversee suppliers, subcontractors and consultants; 

  • Write technical specifications for equipment; 

  • Familiarity with the grid interconnection process; 

  • Experience with relevant regulatory standards such as NEC, UL, CSA, CE, IEC. 

  • Comfortable acting in a pre-sales/sales support role when needed. 


  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other applicable degree is required. 

  • Professional engineer certification desired; 

  • 10+ years of experience with complex electrical power system design.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word. 

Position Requirements: 

  • All considered candidates must have authorization to work in the US with no cost to the employer now or in the future.
